At Sociable Reviews, we take data privacy seriously. This guide explains how our app handles data and what measures we have implemented to support compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and similar privacy laws.

How Sociable Reviews Handles Data

Review Data Collection

Sociable Reviews collects reviews from public platforms where your customers have already chosen to share their feedback:

• Google --- We access publicly available reviews using a third-party reviews API (Wextractor) based on the Google Place ID you provide.
• Facebook --- We collect publicly visible reviews and recommendations from your Facebook business page.
• Trustpilot --- We gather publicly posted reviews for your business.

We do not collect reviews that are not already publicly available, and we do not request additional personal data from your customers.

Data Storage

• Reviews are stored in our secure database hosted on compliant cloud infrastructure.
• We store only the information necessary to display reviews: reviewer name, review content, rating or recommendation status, review date, and reviewer profile image URL.
• Profile pictures are referenced by URL and not stored in our database.
• When Privacy Mode is enabled, personally identifiable information is not displayed in the widget.

Data Processing

• Review data is processed solely for the purpose of displaying reviews on your store.
• We do not use reviewer data for marketing, analytics, or any purpose beyond displaying reviews.
• We do not share or sell reviewer data to third parties.

Your Responsibilities as a Merchant

1. Privacy Policy --- Update your store’s privacy policy to mention that you display reviews collected from third-party platforms.
2. Right to Be Forgotten --- If a customer requests removal of their review:

Ask them to remove their review from the original platform (Google, Facebook, or Trustpilot). 3. Contact us at support@soviapps.com if you need a review removed from the widget cache immediately.

Features That Support Compliance

Privacy Mode

Privacy Mode anonymizes reviews by replacing reviewer names with “Anonymous Customer”, hiding profile pictures, and removing links to original reviews. You can enable or disable Privacy Mode on any widget at any time from the widget management page.

Review Curation

You have full control over which reviews appear on your store. On the widget management page, use the Review Selection tab to select or deselect individual reviews. Hidden reviews are not displayed on your storefront.

Data Minimization

We follow the principle of data minimization by only collecting data necessary to display reviews and not requiring any additional personal information from reviewers.

Data Deletion

If you uninstall the Sociable Reviews app, all review data associated with your store will be deleted within 30 days. No personal data is retained after this period.
