Product Limits in Bundable

Here’s what you need to know about product limits when setting up your bundles.

Products Per Bundle (Customer Selection)

You control how many products a customer can add to their bundle using the Min and Max settings on each bundle. There is no hard cap imposed by the app on how many products a customer can include. However, keep in mind that larger bundles do take longer to process at checkout, so we recommend keeping bundles reasonable for the best customer experience.

Products Available for Selection

The products available for customers to choose from come from the Collection or hand-selected products you assign to the bundle. Shopify’s API allows us to fetch up to 250 products per collection. If your collection has more than 250 products, only the first 250 (based on your sort order) will appear in the bundle builder.

If you need to offer more than 250 products, consider splitting them across multiple bundles or using a more targeted collection.

How Bundle Products Work in Shopify

How Bundable stores bundles in Shopify depends on which bundle mode you’re using:

Single-SKU Bundles

Each unique bundle combination a customer creates is stored as a variant on a Shopify product. Shopify allows up to 2,048 variants per product. When this limit is reached, Bundable automatically creates a new product to continue storing variants. This is handled entirely by the app and requires no action from you.

If the same combination of products has been ordered before, Bundable reuses the existing variant rather than creating a new one.

Multi-SKU Bundles

Multi-SKU bundles work differently. Each bundle has one Shopify product with a single variant. When a customer completes a bundle, each selected product appears as its own line item in the cart. The app’s Cart Transform function groups these items together visually in checkout. No additional variants are created as customers purchase.

Cleaning Up Duplicate Bundle Products

If you’ve been using Bundable for a while with Single-SKU bundles, your store may have accumulated multiple Shopify products for the same bundle (each filled up to the variant limit). While these products are functional, you can clean them up if you prefer a tidier product catalog.

Important: Only delete products that are no longer being used. The product currently linked to your bundle is the one that will receive new variants going forward.

How to identify the correct product:

1. Open the Bundable app in your Shopify admin
2. Click View Product next to the bundle --- this opens the currently linked Shopify product
3. Note the product name and ID
4. Go to Shopify Admin → Products and search for similar product names
5. Any older duplicates that are not the one opened by View Product can be safely deleted, as long as there are no pending or unfulfilled orders referencing them
